ST. ANSGAR — As part of her 99-county tour of Iowa, Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, paid a visit to St. Ansgar on Thursday, Oct.13. Specifically, Ernst visited with board members and employees of Heartland Power Cooperative.
“We noticed this spectacular solar array here in St. Ansgar and I wanted to come and check out the project,” said Ernst. “They are able to provide service to its members at a low cost.”
Ernst said she believes the federal government should explore all types of renewable energy, from wind and solar to biodiesel.
“I believe the federal government needs to move in the direction of considering all strategies including fossil fuels,” said Ernst.
When asked about the Bakken Pipeline, Ernst said, although it was state issue, she didn’t believe in emminent domain, “especially when it benefits individual profits”
“However, I do believe it is the safest way to move the crude oil.”
