Emmetsburg Reporter Democrat: Ernst Talks Small Business in Graettinger

As part of her 99 county tour, United States Senator Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, met with company heads and employees at Energy Panel Structure (EPS) in Graettinger. Ernst wanted to update constituents on what has been happening and to answer questions.

"In the first two years of the Trump Administration, we have seen a number of rules and regulations in various departments that needed to be reviewed or simply just gotten rid of," Ernst began. "This Administration has been going through all of these rules and regulations and have modernized some and simply gotten [rid] of some."

She discussed The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act which has made it possible for employers to add programs, manufacturing lines, insurance, etc. which has lowered unemployment.

"One of the big things that I've heard is that here in America we will never see more than a three percent GDP (gross domestic product) again," Ernst went on to say. "In this current administration, we have gone well past the three percent GDP.  There has been incredible growth across the [United] States, which has contributed to this."

One of the first questions asked had to do with the United States Mexico Canada Agreement and how it would affect Iowa.

"This is another one that is good for our country," Ernst said. "Our farmers will now be able to export dairy products, turkeys and eggs, where before they could not…allowing the American farmer to be more competitive within foreign markets, compared to where we were before.”

"Our tariff's with China are another big issue that I am very optimistic about moving forward," Ernst said. "Senator Grassley and I had a chance to sit down with the president and with Ambassador Branstad. Branstad has a unique perspective on the China issue in that he sees things from the other side . . . I left that meeting feeling very optimistic about our trading with China."
