We spoke with Senator Joni Ernst out of Iowa on Wednesday.
Access to better healthcare could soon be on the way thanks to a Tri-State lawmaker.
Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) is one of the co-sponsors for the VETS bill.
If passed, this bill would use technology to give veterans easier access to healthcare...including mental health.
It would expand e-medicine and tele-medicine benefits from theDepartment of Veterans Affairs.
We spoke with Senator Ernst today as part of our Connect to Congress initiative.
"Since we have over 200,00 veterans in the state of Iowa, some are in rural areas and disabled folks. This allows easier access to those physicians that they need. I'm excited about the use of technology," says Senator Ernst.
Here's what's next for this bill.
It heads to the House of Representatives for consideration.
