Iowa's U.S. Senators Charles Grassley and Joni Ernst met with U.S. Ambassador to China and former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad Wednesday in Washington, D.C. The discussion included issues such as the relationship between the United States and China, security in East Asia and ongoing developments regarding North Korea.
One topic of concern was trade between the United States and China, and the impact tariffs will have on Iowa agriculture. Another focus of the meeting was production of the deadly drug fentanyl in China and its increasing consumption in America as the country faces a growing opioid, heroin and fentanyl epidemic.
