Des Moines, Iowa - Former US presidents may well be in for a pay cut if the Presidential Allowance Modernization Act of 2015 becomes law. Freshman US Senator Joni Ernst introduced the bill last week, which was co-sponsored by presidential hopeful Marco Rubio of FL and Mark Kirk of IL. Ernst says it's time to start making some common sense budget cuts and believes this would be a good start that few would take issue with. The Measure would also reduce the perks a former president receives is he earns more than $400,000 per year, however it would not touch the pensions of former presidents, currently at $201,000 per year, or their Secret Service protective details.
