After Hearing from Iowa Health Care Professionals, Ernst Urges Senate to Prioritize Relief for Hospitals, Community Health Centers, Workers on Front Lines
The Iowa senator says ‘we are only going to be as successful as our health efforts allow’
WASHINGTON – After hearing from a number of hospitals and health centers in Iowa about the need for additional relief, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) is calling on the Senate to prioritize the health care community – including hospitals, doctors, nurses, and other first responders – in the next phase of COVID-19 relief—the Phase 3 package.
“Right now, the Senate is working swiftly with the Trump Administration to deliver additional relief to Americans who are struggling in the midst of this COVID-19 pandemic,” said Senator Ernst, a member of the Senate Small Business Committee. “As we work through this Phase 3 package, we must prioritize those who are on the front lines of this crisis: our hospitals, community health centers, rural health clinics, and the countless health workers who are, at this very moment, caring for and treating COVID-19 patients.
“I’ve heard from a number of health care providers across Iowa about their need for more relief. As we work through this next phase of the federal response, we must remember that we are only going to be as successful as our health efforts allow. Let’s come together – as Democrats and Republicans – and heed the call of our hospitals and health care workers who need additional personal protective equipment and direct financial assistance. They always have our back; let’s make sure we have theirs when they need it most.”
