As Fed Chair Warns Inflation Could Be ‘Higher’ and ‘More Persistent,’ Ernst Works to Expose Impact of Dems’ Reckless Spending

A measure backed by the Iowa senator would require all bills to include inflationary impact statements, so Americans can see the true impacts of government spending.

WASHINGTON—As Democrats continue pushing to spend trillions more taxpayer dollars and the chair of the Federal Reserve Jerome Powell warned that inflation could turn out to be “higher” and “more persistent” than expected, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) is calling for a measure to expose the impacts of reckless government spending on inflation. Ernst helped introduce an amendment to the Senate Rules to require all bills passed by Senate committees to include inflationary impact statements, so Americans can see the true impacts of government spending.

“Due in part to Democrats’ reckless spending, Iowans are already feeling the pinch of rising prices on almost every household item—from gasoline to food to diapers. Instead of addressing the problem, President Biden has pledged to spend trillions more to fund his liberal wish list. This effort will increase transparency and allow Americans to see the impact of the Left’s egregious spending on their pocketbooks, families, and small businesses,” said Senator Ernst.

Ernst has been speaking out on the rising prices of goods and services, noting that over eighty percent of Americans are concerned about inflation, and slamming President Biden and congressional Democrats for ignoring the problem and instead continuing to move forward with their reckless tax-and-spend spree.

Earlier this month, with a “Price is Right” themed wheel at her side, Ernst spoke on the Senate floor highlighting the skyrocketing rates of inflation and increased costs of consumer goods as a result of President Biden’s economic policies.
