WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, will welcome Sydney Rieckhoff to the U.S. Capitol as her guest for the State of the Union. Rieckhoff is the CEO and Co-founder of Almost Famous Popcorn, a family-owned, gourmet, ready-to-eat popcorn company based in Cedar Rapids.
“Our job creators and entrepreneurs are the backbone of Iowa’s economy, with small businesses making up 98 percent of businesses across our state. As Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, I am thrilled to have Sydney, a fellow Iowan, join me in Washington to highlight her successes and discuss solutions to her challenges,” Ernst said.

About Almost Famous Popcorn:
With a team of over 50 employees across the state of Iowa, the rapidly growing Almost Famous Popcorn is actively working on regional expansion, with a goal of becoming the go-to gourmet popcorn brand in the United States.
Sydney's passion for advancing financial literacy and entrepreneurship led to her recognition as a Herbert Hoover Foundation Uncommon Student. This experience inspired her to follow in the footsteps of the Iowa-born president to continue her education at Stanford University, where she studied International Relations.
Sydney is an alumna of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, and an active member of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Voices community, which advocates for policies that support small businesses.
The State of the Union will mark the one-year anniversary of Sydney making the leap to focus on being a full-time CEO and Popcorneur.
Almost Famous can be found across the country, including in select Scheel’s Sporting Goods, Hy-Vee’s, Fareways, Casey’s, and local outlets. As well as online at almostfamouspopcorn.com.
