Ernst Backs Bipartisan Measure Throwing Out Biden’s Vaccine Mandate

The bipartisan measure blocks President Biden’s mandate for private companies to require employees to receive the vaccine or undergo burdensome testing requirements.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) backed a bipartisan effort that passed the Senate today to throw out President Biden’s vaccine mandate on private companies.

“Iowans should make the decisions about their own health care—not the federal government—and President Biden’s heavy-handed federal mandate takes that freedom away from Iowans,” said Senator Joni Ernst. “I’m vaccinated, and I encourage others to get vaccinated, but Washington shouldn’t force this decision on hardworking Americans.”

The measure under the Congressional Review Act (CRA)—a tool that allows Congress to overturn executive branch rules—blocks President Biden’s mandate for private companies to require vaccines or burdensome testing requirements for employees.
