WASHINGTON – As world leaders gather for the 75th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), U.S. Senator Joni Ernst, a combat veteran, called for the United States to restore peace through strength after President Biden’s weakness has abandoned our partners.
During her remarks, Ernst cited how Biden botched his Afghanistan withdrawal, emboldened Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, allowed Chinese aggression, and withheld weapons from Israel.
Watch her full remarks here.
Background:
Ernst warned against a hurried Afghanistan withdrawal. In the aftermath, she noted how our future partners will struggle to trust the United States with Biden’s track record of broken promises.
She has been a strong advocate for weapons not welfare to end Putin’s brutal war and has worked to increase cooperation with Pacific Island Nations to counter China’s malign influence.
Ernst, co-chair of the bipartisan Abraham Accords Caucus, has also worked to hold Biden accountable for breaking his “ironclad” commitment to Israel.
