WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), co-chair of the Abraham Accords Caucus, discussed her work to release hostages held by Iran-backed Hamas, including six Americans, after she returned from leading a bipartisan, bicameral Congressional delegation leveraging our partners in the Middle East to put pressure on Hamas to immediately release hostages.
Ernst contrasted her 2014 visit to the peaceful Kibbutz Nir Oz with her recent visit, where she witnessed how the same farming community was ravaged by Hamas.

Background:
In the wake of the horrific terrorist attacks on Israel by Iran-backed Hamas, Ernst has been in close contact with the U.S. hostage families.
Following the attacks, Ernst led her colleagues in urging President Biden to focus his full attention on freeing American hostages taken by Hamas during its attacks on Israel and supporting Israel’s efforts to dismantle the threat of Hamas.
In December, Ernst led a bipartisan letter calling on President Joe Biden to leverage the U.S. diplomatic relationship with Qatar to secure the immediate release of the remaining hostages held in Gaza by Hamas.
