WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), a combat veteran and vice chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, issued the following statement after Senate Democrats again blocked funding for our servicemembers, including the largest pay raise for U.S. troops in a decade:
“We have an obligation as members of Congress to ensure our men and women in uniform are fully equipped to keep our nation safe. But instead of fulfilling that duty, Democrats are playing politics. For the second time, Senate Democrats have blocked funding for our servicemembers, failing to give our troops their largest pay raise in a decade. Folks, we’ve got to do better for our troops and their families. I hope lawmakers across the aisle will finally decide to put politics aside and actually work to support our military and ensure they’re getting the resources they need.”
