DUBUQUE, Iowa – In a roundtable yesterday with student veterans at the University of Dubuque, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a combat veteran, and Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa), sat down to hear about the transition from service to higher education and the challenges veterans have faced moving on from their time in uniform. Ernst took the opportunity to discuss her own experience leaving the military after 23 years and her choice to serve the country in a new capacity.

y’s roundtable with Congresswoman Hinson was an important opportunity to discuss the unique challenges they face, and the solutions we can find at the federal level,” said Senator Ernst. “It’s crucial that our veterans have the tools necessary to transition back to civilian life, which includes pursuing a higher education.”
"Thank you to the student veterans at the University of Dubuque for sharing more about their experiences continuing their higher education after serving our country," said Hinson. "We are working to ensure that veterans have access to opportunities when they come home, and we thank them for their service."
