Ernst Honored as Champion for Homegrown American Biofuels

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, was honored to receive Growth Energy’s 2024 Fueling Growth Award in recognition of her strong support for America's homegrown biofuel producers.

“I understand firsthand that biofuels are key to strengthening our rural communities, keeping gas prices low, and protecting our energy independence,” said Senator Ernst. “Iowa farmers already feed the nation, and by promoting homegrown American biofuels, I’m committed to ensuring they have the chance to sustainably fuel it, too. Thank you to the team at Growth Energy for this honor as I continue representing the voices of our hardworking farmers and biofuel producers.”

“Senator Ernst truly embodies the values that Growth Energy seeks to recognize with the Fueling Growth award. She has tirelessly dedicated herself to the advancement of American biofuels, and her record of embracing our industry's biggest policy priorities sets a fine example for other policymakers looking to support local farmers and ethanol producers,” said Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor. “We commend Senator Ernst and look forward to another Congress of working side-by-side to help the American biofuels industry reach its full potential."

Background:

Throughout her time in Congress, Ernst has been a strong advocate for homegrown, Iowa biofuels, including by calling on the White House to make E15 available year-round and country-wide, adhere to the GREET model to provide domestic producers with a seat at the table, amend its harmful decision to set the Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO) levels well below industry production capacity, raise Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) volumes for biomass-based diesel and advanced biofuels, and issue timely guidance on the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit.
