WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) joined Mornings with Maria on Fox Business to discuss her bill to address the Department of Defense’s (DoD) massive inefficiencies in its storage and inventory by giving the Pentagon the authority to consolidate unneeded warehouses and storage centers, with the goal of saving taxpayers in Iowa and across the country over $500 million.

Currently, DoD is incurring hundreds of millions of dollars in costs to store more than 768,000 items that are likely never to be used. This week, Senator Ernst introduced the Defense Storage and Supply Efficiency Improvement Act, which will help DoD address the massive inefficiencies in their storage and inventory. In addition, Senator Ernst awarded her September Squeal Award to both Congress and the Pentagon for failure to address these costly and unnecessary expenses.
