WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), one of the first female Republicans to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee, today met with Judge Amy Coney Barrett, President Trump’s nominee to be the next Associate Justice on the United States Supreme Court.
“Judge Barrett is a well-respected jurist, an accomplished legal scholar, and a mother to seven beautiful children. I am truly grateful for her example for all of us working moms, but especially for young women across this country. She has proven a mom really can do anything,” said Senator Ernst. “Today, Judge Barrett and I had a conversation around her judicial record and commitment to the Constitution. She deserves a fair and honest confirmation process, and I am committed to evaluating Judge Barrett on the basis of her qualifications and character.”
