Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Dungey’s Furniture & Floors of Chickasaw County. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
“Since 1963, Dungey's has built a legacy based on quality furniture and family values,” said Ranking Member Ernst. “After a devastating fire in 2014, Dungey’s persevered and came back stronger. I’m proud to commend the entire team for their hard work, resilience, and dedication to operating a family-owned business that gives back to its local communities.”
Dungey’s Furniture & Floors was founded by Everett Dungey in 1963 on East Main Street in New Hampton. In 1983, Everett Dungey’s sons, Mark and Trace, took over the business and have been running it ever since. In 1987, Mark and Trace expanded to a second location in Osage, Iowa. In 2014, one year after they celebrated their 50th business anniversary, the New Hampton location was destroyed by a fire. Thanks to the perseverance of the Dungey family, their employees, and their community, in October 2017, their new location opened on Canty Avenue. Today, the 25,000-square-foot New Hampton store is open and proudly serving Iowans. The Dungey’s Furniture & Floors family is actively involved in their local community, including participating in the New Hampton Light Project and serving as marshals for New Hampton Heartland Days. The team celebrated its 61st business anniversary in 2024.
Stay tuned as Ranking Member Ernst recognizes more Iowa small businesses across the state with her Small Business of the Week award.
