Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: Fireside Winery of Iowa County. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
“Bill and Rona Wyant’s Fireside Winery is a testament to their deep ag roots in eastern Iowa and a reflection of the warmth of family, friendships, and great conversations that can be shared over a glass,” said Senator Ernst. “I’m grateful to the entire team at Fireside Winery for proving that, without a doubt, Iowa-grown grapes can produce incredible wines! I look forward to seeing their continued growth and success.”
Husband and wife Bill and Rona Wyant have always had a passion for wine. In 2007, they decided to start a winery of their own, establishing Fireside Winery in Marengo. The Wyant family farm has been producing Iowa staples like corn and soybeans in eastern Iowa for five generations, and the winery provided an excellent opportunity for the Wyants to diversify their family business. Fireside Winery produces red, white, and sparkling wines from Iowa-grown grapes on their 22-acre vineyard, and offers wine tastings, winery tours, live music, and a beautiful venue for weddings. In June 2023, the Fireside Winery’s Marengo sparkling wine made history when it was chosen to christen the USS Iowa SSN 797 nuclear submarine. Fireside Winery is actively involved in the Marengo community, hosting the Wine Run 5K and supporting several local organizations.
Stay tuned as Ranking Member Ernst recognizes more Iowa small businesses across the state with her Small Business of the Week award.
