Ernst Names Small Business of the Week, Highlights Jill’s Homestead

Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced the Small Business of the Week: Jill’s Homestead of Chariton. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

Ernst has been traveling Iowa from river to river visiting with small business owners, hearing the concerns of job creators, and celebrating the successes of Iowa’s entrepreneurs. On Saturday, March 4, Ernst presented Jill Godby with a Congressional Record recognizing her small business.

“I love to hear stories of women entrepreneurs, like Jill, who take a leap of faith to turn a passionate hobby into a successful business. Jill’s Homestead is a unique addition to the Chariton Main Street, and I’m proud to see another woman-owned, small business thrive in rural Iowa,” said Ranking Member Ernst.

Jill Godby’s hobby of making leather earrings turned into a thriving retail and online shop specializing in fine leather goods including luxury handbags, accessories, and home goods. Jill’s Homestead, a woman-owned-and-operated small business, has a mission to deliver the highest quality leather goods to customers while consistently serving them with “Iowa nice” customer service.

Stay tuned as Ranking Member Ernst recognizes more Iowa small businesses across the state with her Small Business of the Week award.
