Ernst Names Small Business of the Week, The Brick Kitchen

Throughout this Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee, today announced her Small Business of the Week: The Brick Kitchen of Buchanan County. Throughout the 119th Congress, Chair Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

“Since 2021, The Brick Kitchen has cooked up incredible experiences from their hands-on cooking classes to selling flavor-infused olive oils and balsamic vinegar,” said Chair Ernst. "Where culinary enthusiasts meet high-quality kitchen tools and gadgets, The Brick Kitchen certainly knows how to create excitement in the kitchen!"

In October 2020, Nate and Shelly Whited purchased and restored the historic, all-brick King’s Hall built in 1876. The couple was inspired by a love of cooking and spending time in the kitchen with their children, Tia and Will. Nate and Shelly got to work and, with the help of friends and family, opened the doors of The Brick Kitchen in May 2021. In April 2023, The Brick Kitchen expanded its operations with an instructional kitchen for demonstrations and hands-on cooking classes. This May, The Brick Kitchen will celebrate its fourth anniversary.

Stay tuned as Chair Ernst recognizes more Iowa small businesses across the state with her Small Business of the Week award.
