The Iowa senator said that if the Democrats get their way, “the Senate and our country will never be the same.”
WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) called out Democrats for their attempt to take over our nation’s elections, as well as their hypocrisy regarding changes to the Senate rules. Ernst, a former local commissioner of elections, noted that changes by Iowa officials to modernize their laws has led to increased voter participation, and said that Democrats are using this radical legislation as an excuse to blow up the Senate.
Ernst highlighted previous statements from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and President Biden who argued that destroying the Senate would be a "doomsday for democracy” and a “fundamental power grab”—dubbing it the “filibuster flip-flop.”
