WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) announced the passage of their bipartisan resolution to celebrate National Farmers Market Week from August 4-10, 2024. This resolution recognizes the crucial role farmers play in uniting communities, feeding America, and enriching lives.
“During this National Farmers Market Week, I’m honored to celebrate the work of Iowa farmers who feed and fuel our communities!” said Senator Ernst. “Our state takes pride in our agriculture, and farmers markets make access to farm-fresh and locally sourced food even easier. When Iowans buy and sell close to home, they support local economies, promote healthy communities, and put hard-earned money back into producers’ pockets.”
“I am proud to celebrate National Farmers Market Week and to support our local farmers, who feed our families and bring us together,” said Senator Padilla. “Our farmers markets nourish our neighborhoods, strengthen our local economies, and grow the relationship between growers and consumers. We cherish these spaces as a vibrant and dependable source of nutrition and community.”
