Biden admin withholds munitions, while American citizens are still held hostage by Hamas.
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Ted Budd (R-N.C.), members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, have returned from a congressional delegation to the Middle East, which included stops in Israel, Iraq, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates.
While in Israel, the senators received reports that the United States withheld an ammunition shipment to Israel, which would help it defend itself from Hamas. The pair immediately demanded answers from President Joe Biden to hold him accountable for his “ironclad” commitment to our greatest ally in the Middle East.
The senators also hosted the families of American hostages and received firsthand updates on the state of the hostage negotiations from top U.S. and Israeli officials, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Following Ernst’s oversight, the White House was publicly questioned on the president’s so-called “ironclad” commitment to Israel:

“If the White House won't answer questions from the press, they may have to respond to Congress. Senators Joni Ernst and Ted Budd in a letter to the president yesterday asking which ammunition was withheld, why, if it was part of the national security supplemental Congress passed last month after the president called it ‘imperative,’ and why Congress wasn't informed.”

“I’ve just returned from the Middle East, where Israelis are very concerned about what they see happening across the United States at our liberal campuses...and also in other nations. Antisemitism cannot exist – should not exist – most certainly not here in the United States.”
“Boy, President Biden seems to be sweating this out with his mention of withholding munitions from Israel, but this is about Hamas. This is about destroying them. This is about the existence of Israel. This is about the right for Jewish people to exist.”

“When [Israel] feels that America…has abandoned them, they have to figure out what works best for them. Joe Biden has been signaling to the administration in Israel that we do not have the ‘ironclad’ stance to stand by them that Joe Biden proclaims.”
“You’d think that a letter penned by two senators, as they are sitting in Israel hearing these reports, would receive a response. Yet, we have not heard from the administration.”
“Again, President Joe Biden, he is the one that said our support to Israel is ‘ironclad,’ yet here he is waffling on support to Israel. We should not be bending. We should make sure that Israel is able to defeat the terrorist threat, especially at a time when they are being targeted by Iran.”

“Joe Biden, you must release this ammunition, and make sure our friends can fight against this evil threat of Hamas.”
