Every year, Ernst can nominate ten Iowans to U.S. service academies.
RED OAK, Iowa – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) will host an academy open house on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa for students interested in applying to one of our nation’s military academies. As a U.S. Army veteran, every year, Ernst is honored to have the opportunity to nominate up to ten eligible Iowa students for each U.S. service academy.
“My 23 years of military service shaped my life. As the mom of a West Point graduate, nominating the next generation to our nation’s service academies is one of my greatest honors,” said Ernst. “I look forward to meeting with young leaders throughout our state interested in learning more about our academies.”
Our U.S. service academies allow young people the opportunity to serve our country while receiving a full, four-year scholarship from some of our nation’s finest institutions of higher learning. Academy representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Air Force Academy will be in attendance to share their experience and answer questions about the application and nomination process.
RSVP at Brenda_Safranski@ernst.senate.gov or (515) 284-4574. Click here to view the academy nomination application.
