Ernst: Trade Remains A Top Issue For Iowans

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Energy and Rural Development, today relayed the importance of trade for Iowans, and all Americans. Senator Ernst applauded the recent announcement of the U.S.-Japan trade agreement, citing the nearly $1 billion worth of Iowa exports sent to Japan in 2018, as well as China’s pledge to purchase additional agriculture products from American farmers.

Senator Ernst also continued to press Congress to pass the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Ernst called on Speaker Pelosi to move on this trade agreement that will benefit not only farmers, but business owners and manufacturers—Republicans and Democrats alike.
