Ernst Urges Pentagon to Improve Defense Contract Terms, Support Small Business

WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, reacted to a recent report from the Department of Defense (DoD) which shows that contract terms are eroding the health of the defense supplier base, namely small businesses. Ernst released the following statement:

“The defense supplier base is steadily shrinking, which has created concentrated markets and a decline in competition. This report should cause alarm bells to go off across the Pentagon. We must improve defense contract terms for small businesses, which in turn would support our supply chain and the Department's access to cutting-edge technology and innovation key to our national security. Protecting our nation means protecting small businesses; there is no time to delay.”
