The annual charity game benefits the Young Survival Coalition, raising funds and awareness for young women with breast cancer
WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) teamed up with her Republican and Democratic Senate colleagues tonight to take on women members of Washington’s press corps at the Congressional Women’s Softball Game. The game, which benefits the Young Survival Coalition, raises funds and awareness for young women with breast cancer. Senator Ernst played tonight in honor of her friend, Theresa Margotta, who was diagnosed with breast cancer while she was pregnant with her second child.
“Since its inception in 2009, the Congressional Women’s Softball game has raised more than $1.3 million for Young Survival Coalition, an organization that supports young women with breast cancer. The game is a great tradition of bipartisanship and comradery, and I’m honored to be a part of such a wonderful cause,” said Senator Joni Ernst.
After a hard fought battle, the female Senators suffered defeat to the members of the press 10-3.
