The Iowa senator is moving to permanently block Democrats from imposing federal methane requirements on farmers and ranchers.
WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee and the Senate Agriculture Committee, continued her fight for Iowa farmers and ranchers after Senate Democrats once again tried to include their “cow tax” – which would regulate greenhouse gas emissions in the livestock industry – in the latest rendition of their reckless-tax-and-spend spree.
This week, Ernst questioned a witness at a Senate EPW Committee hearing on the impacts proposed livestock emissions regulations would have on family farmers, and how burdensome regulations, like the “cow tax,” would increase costs on both livestock producers and consumers.
