Sen. Ernst Statement on Fidel Castro

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) today issued the following statement on the death of Fidel Castro:

"The death of Fidel Castro brings about new opportunity for basic human rights and democracy throughout Cuba – something that he and his brother consistently refused to provide. 

"Now is the time to eliminate the oppression that has consumed Cuba for decades. It's my hope that the U.S. and Cuba can work together to chart a new path forward and ensure freedom and equality for all its people."
