Ernst Joins Fox Report to Discuss Derecho Damage and Recovery in Iowa
RED OAK, Iowa—As Iowans work to recover from the devastating derecho that hit the state last week, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) joined Fox Reports to discuss the impact of the severe storms and the need for recovery assistance.
Ernst, who was on the ground as a member of the Iowa National Guard during the recovery after the 2008 floods, said, “Iowans are resilient. They are pulling together, but it is a devastating situation. The derecho hit on Monday, and it affected a lot of our crop land area, nearly 10 million acres have been affected, but more significantly we have many communities still without power, especially Cedar Rapids, which is Iowa's second largest city.”
