KCRG: Sen. Ernst Speaks on 'Doc Fix' on 100th Day in Senate

"Today is the 100th day in office for any new members of Congress, and that includes Iowa Senator Joni Ernst. In a teleconference with reporters today, Ernst said she's had many discussions since her first day in office that work toward compromise on various issues. One of her big votes was for the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act that the Senate passed on Tuesday. That bill would repeals Medicare's Sustainable Growth Rate formula, increase means testing of Medicare benefits for high income seniors, and extend funding for the children's health insurance program for two years. 'Congress cannot continue its pattern of band aid fixes for a fragmented Medicare system that fails to address the underlying issue. and while the bipartisan reform legislation is not perfect, and I would have much preferred its spending was fully offset, it does move us in the right direction.' Now the Senate approved that bill on a vote of 92 to eight." (KCRG-TV, 4/16/15)
